Yobe State Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, has described the people of the state as the true pillars of democracy for their unwavering support of government policies and programmes.
As contained in a statement released by his Director General of the Press and Media Affairs, Mamman Mohammed, commemorating Democracy Day in Nigeria, Governor Buni noted that the people’s support has undoubtedly strengthened democracy in the state.
He observed that 26 years of uninterrupted democratic rule in Nigeria have given citizens a sense of participation and ownership in government.
The Governor highlighted his administration’s efforts to enhance governance by appointing youths as commissioners, chief executives of government agencies, special advisers, special assistants, and focal persons.
He emphasised the importance of youth participation in politics and governance, saying it holds the key to a prosperous future for the state and country.
Governor Buni assured citizens of more dividends of democracy aimed at improving their lives, promising that all ongoing projects would be completed to ensure value for money and maximum benefit to the people.
Buni further called for continued cooperation to strengthen democracy and promote good governance, urging citizens to take advantage of the rainy season to engage in agriculture, support security agencies, and promote peaceful coexistence in the state.
