The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has commenced preparations for the 2026 hajj pilgrimage, following the successful conclusion of the 2025 hajj exercise.
The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of NAHCON, Prof Abdullahi Saleh Usman, disclosed this during a press briefing in Kano.
Prof Usman expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for the smooth and successful 2025 hajj operation, which witnessed the safe return of Nigerian pilgrims.
He noted that feedback from pilgrims and high-ranking officials, including members of the National Assembly’s Committees on Foreign Affairs and Hajj Affairs, attested to the success of the 2025 hajj.
Professor Usman notes that the commission has learned valuable lessons from the 2025 operations and is building on that experience to ensure a more seamless exercise next year.
The NAHCON chairman urged intending pilgrims to begin early registration for the 2026 hajj pilgrimage.
He stated that Saudi Arabian authorities have announced plans to conclude all preparations for next year’s hajj within the next two to three months and will not wait for any country to finalize their arrangements late.
“NAHCON is seeking approval to announce the hajj fare for 2026 soon.”
Prof Usman appealed to all Nigerians intending to perform the pilgrimage to register early. This move aims to facilitate a smooth and efficient operation for the 2026 hajj pilgrimage.
“We have learned a lot from this year’s hajj,” Prof Usman said. “Insha Allah, we intend to deliver a better and more efficient operation in 2026.”
