Dangote Sugar Refinery Empowers Education Through Annual Quiz.

Dangote Sugar Refinery DSR High School has emerged winner of the fourth edition of the school quiz competition organized by Dangote Sugar Refinery in Numan.

The high school scored 95 points to beat top contending schools from Guyuk and Shelleng Local Government Areas.

In her opening remarks during the event, which took place at the factory’s premises, the Head of Social Performance at Dangote Sugar Refinery, Dr. Adenike Olaoye, urged the students to remain focused and determined in their academic pursuits, as she reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting education through scholarships, empowerment programs, and community development projects.

“Today for us is not just about the quiz; it is the ability of students to think and respond to situations and questions without looking at textbooks and calculators.”

Stakeholders who attended the event equally appreciated Dangote Sugar Refinery Numan for its continuous efforts in empowering the host communities, describing the quiz competition as key to maintaining good relationships among students from different communities.

Also, the overall best student of the competition, Safiya Bello from DSR High School, who was full of excitement, expressed gratitude to the company for organizing the annual event.

“I never expected this, but with the help of the Almighty and the studies I had been through, it all went well.”

The secondary school quiz competition is an annual event organized by Dangote Sugar Refinery Numan as part of its corporate social responsibility to strengthen the educational system of its host communities.

This year, secondary schools representing Numan, Demsa, Shelleng, Lamurde, Guyuk, and the DSR High School participated in the quiz competition.

DSR High School emerged winner with 95 points, Guyuk Local Government came second with 60 points, and Shelleng came third with 55 points.

High points of the event were the presentation of trophies and awards to the winning school as well as students who performed exceptionally.
