President Tinubu Lauds Yobe’s Agricultural Initiatives

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has praised the Yobe State government for its significant investment in agriculture, aimed at ensuring food sufficiency and security in the state.

He made the commendation during the official launch of the state’s Agricultural Empowerment Programme in Damaturu, the State Capital.

Represented at the event, by the Senior Special Assistant on political and other matters, to the president, Ibrahim Kabiru Masari, President Tinubu said the state agricultural empowerment programme aligns with the federal government’s renewed Hope Agenda, focusing on improving agricultural productivity.

While speaking, Governor Mai Mala Buni announced that the machines, equipment, and farm implements will be distributed free to deserving farmers, with an additional 50% subsidy on fertilizer sales.

According to Governor Buni, the initiative builds upon last year’s procurement and distribution of 100 tractors, hand-tilling machines, and other agricultural equipment.

Earlier, In an address of welcome, the State Commissioner for Agriculture, Ali Mustapha Goniri, highlighted the significance of the empowerment programme, noting that it marks the second of its kind in the state’s history.

He assured that the inputs would be delivered to all parts of the state, as per the governor’s directives.

The Items distributrd including 40 Massey Ferguson tractors,1,961 Power Tillers,1,250 Hand Push Planters, 553 Multi-Purpose Threshers, 3,410 Solar water pumps and 830 Fertilizer Applicators.

Others are 4,500 bags of NPK 20:10:10 Fertilizer, 195 Crop Residue crushers, 495 Crop Residue choppers, 20,000 Assorted improved seeds, Assorted Agro Chemicals.

Still on the list: 4,000 Bunch of Cassava Stems, Assorted Certified Seeds, 50 Tricycles and 30 Motorcycles.
