Speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Dr. Danladi Jatau, has directed House the Standing Committees to embark on oversight functions to MDAs for two weeks starting from tomorrow, Aug.26, 2025.
This, he said was to ensure that the 2025 budget is strictly implemented by MDAs.
The Speaker gave the directive during the House proceedings today in Lafia.
Speaker Jatau urged the Committees to be thorough in their assignments and ensure strict adherence in the budget during the two weeks oversight function given to them.
He said, that the oversight function was not to witch hunt anybody, but to ensure that the right things are done by managements of MDAs.
According to him, the house appropriated funds for MDAs and the constitution has empowered them to find out whether the money released to MDAs is used appropriately.
“We have passed the 2025 budget and it is their duties to ensure that the budget passed by the house is being implemented strictly for the benefit of the people”….he said.
“I want the public to know that oversight function is not a witch hunt exercise as it is their duties to checkmate the budget of MDAs as passed by the house”.. he maintained.
“I am declaring that the house from tomorrow will commence oversight function for two weeks to MDAs” he said.
He advised the lawmakers not to compromise while carrying out the task at the Ministries, Departments and Agencies MDAs.
Dr. Jatau also called on the management of MDAs to give their full support and cooperation to the various committees for the success of the exercise.
The Speaker appreciated Governor Abdullahi Sule for his efforts in developing the state.
