Six hundred thousand students across various public Tertiary Education Institutions benefit from NELFUND.

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund NELFUND has disbursed about fifty nine billion naira to six hundred thousand students in various public Tertiary Education Institutions.

The Director General National Orientation Agency NOA Alhaji Lanre Isa Onilu who stated this at a Town Hall meeting on national values reorientation, flood disaster mitigation, Nigerian Identity project and national security awareness in Bauchi said the fund provides loans to qualified students from public tertiary students.

Alhaji Lanre Onilu represented by the Zonal Director North East Ali Audu, said renovation of 700 hundred schools is also ongoing under the Renewed Hope infrastructure fund to improve the education sector.

He explained that the town Hall meeting focuses on 5 key areas to sensitise the citizenry on government policies and programmes in order to have value reorientation.

Earlier, the state Director NOA Alhaji Muhammad Nasiru Mahe said as part of their grassroots approach the agency’s Community Orientation and Mobilization Officers will engage the public across the 20 LGAs of the state to provide clarity on government programmes and policies.

Alhaji Nasiru Mahe said the campaign will be carried out through Town Hall meetings, advocacy visits, school visitation and other community outreach activities.

In their separate messages, representatives of the Nigerian Army Captain A. H Solomon, and Civil Defence Superintendent Yusuf Zagi called for support through the provision of useful information to safeguard lives and property.

In his remarks,the Galadiman Bauchi Surveyor Saidu Jahun called for the change of school curriculum to enhance education and call for the enlightenment of community involved on the money spent on flood mitigation.
