The Zonal Director, Northeast, Radio Nigeria, Alhaji Dahiru Garba Mohammad, has urged the staff to adopt new technology as a top priority to enhance broadcasting in the Northeast of the country.

This was stated while touring the Radio Nigeria stations in the Northeast to oversee the installation of solar power.

The radio stations visited were Jewel FM Gombe, Gift FM Jalingo, and Fombina FM Yola.

The Zonal Director, Northeast Zone, Alhaji Dahiru Garba Mohammad, explained that the essence of the visit was to see the extent of the installation of solar power and also to train the staff, through the Head of ICT, on the need to transition to enhanced digital content.

According to him, there is a paradigm shift globally in the media space, with broadcasting adopting new technology, especially to maintain its relevance.

Alhaji Dahiru Garba also said, having seen the level of the work, that Fombina FM, Jewel FM, and Gift FM Jalingo are already on solar, including other stations that were not visited.

He therefore expressed satisfaction and said they were grateful to the Northeast Development Commission for coming to the aid of the radio stations. He also pointed out that the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, had added more solar panels to the storage capacity.

“Fombina FM Yola has a unique situation due to the equipment being used, which requires more power,” he said.

The Zonal Director, Northeast Zone, also said in terms of content and programming, the radio stations will improve their interactivity with listeners.

“The new media space is gradually encroaching on broadcasting,” he said.

He emphasized that in terms of content quality, Radio Nigeria has always been at the forefront, stressing that it will continue to do so with the stability of power supply.

Alhaji Dahiru also urged the staff of Fombina FM Yola to rededicate themselves to serving their communities according to the ideals of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria FRCN.
