Bauchi State Governments says efforts are being put in place for the introduction of measles rubella vaccine targeting over one million children of nine months to fourteen years.
The ten days vaccination campaign is scheduled to commence on October 18, 2025
The State Community Engagement Focal Person, Abubakar Dabo who stated this at a media engagement organised by the State Primary Health Care Board in Bauchi, said all eligible children would be reached with the potent antigen vaccine across the twenty local government areas of the state.
Abubakar Dabo who is also the State Deputy Health Educator, noted that although measles rubella has similar symptoms to the normal measles, it however affects adults of both gender.
According to him, the ten days integrated campaign will feature the administering of the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) vaccine to nine year old female children against Cervical cancer, polio, Rota, BCG, hepatitis, Penta and other routine immunisations.
Also Speaking, a Technical Assistant with the World Health Organisation, WHO, Bauchi office, Muhammad Dungus, clarified that the effect of Cervical cancer can be seen in men through forming genital warts, especially among those whose partners were affected.
