NEDC Distributes Relieve Materials To Victims Of Flood In Yobe

The North East Development Commission (NEDC) has provided relief materials to the flood-Victims at Garin Kolo Community in Nangere Local Government Area of Yobe State.

The community, one of the worst hit by the recent flood, received food and non-food items to support its displaced members and to also avoid unnecessary hardship

To ensure the safety of the displaced community members, security agencies have been deployed to safeguard against Gender-Based Violence (GBV) related issues and breakdown of law and order.

The Managing Director, NEDC, Mohammed Goni Alkali, represented by the State Coordinator, Dr. Ali Ibrahim Abbas, urged the beneficiaries to utilize the items properly and avoid diverting them from the intended purpose.

The Executive Secretary of the Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Dr. Mohammed Goje, assured that Yobe state government would continue to support vulnerable people in the state.

He emphasized the government’s commitment to providing relief to those affected by disasters.

The District Head of Chukuriwa, Garba Wakili, speaking on behalf of the community members, expressed gratitude to the NEDC for the support.

He also commended the Yobe State Government for its efforts in addressing the flood crisis.

The relief items included; Rice, Spaghetti, Vegetable oil while the Non-Food Items consist of Mats, Blankets, Children wears, Women wrappers and others.

The gesture demonstrates NEDC’s commitment to supporting communities affected by disasters in the North East region.
