The Yobe State Police Command has recorded a breakthrough in its fight against crime, with the arrest of several suspects involved in burglary, theft, and phone snatching.
The operation, launched in response to a resurgence of these crimes in major cities, resulted in the apprehension of Abubakar Ahmad, 20 years old, Babagana Goni, 25, Abubakar Ibrahim, 28, and Mohammed Adamu, 28 years old, who specialise in housebreaking, shop burglary, and theft.
Other notorious receivers of stolen items, Babangida Yahaya, 28years and Ayuba Mohammed, 27, were also arrested.
The police recovered various exhibits, including three Scooter motorcycles, 34 pieces of Ankara fabric, assorted clothing, and electronics.
According to the statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, Dungus Abdulkarim, the suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet investigation and subsequent prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Ado, commended the personnel involved in the operation and reiterated the Command’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of Yobe State.
The police also acknowledged the cooperation of the community in providing credible information that led to the breakthrough.
It’s added that the operation is part of the Command’s efforts to rid the state of criminal elements and ensure a safe and secure environment for residents.
