Yobe State Government Expresses More Commitment Towards Eliminating Sale and Consumption Of Alcoholic Substances.

A joint team Led by the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Ethical Reorientation, Police, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency and Hisbah Corps have arrested 37 Persons for alleged Prostitution and illegal sale and consumption of Alcoholic Substances in the State.

The Commissioner Religious Affairs and Ethical Reorientation, Alhaji Yusuf Umar said the essence of this operation was to ensure the present administration’s commitments towards ensuring the full implemention of Shari’a Law across the State.

According to him, a total number of 37 persons have been arrested, which include 17 Males and 20 Females, aged between 15 to 18 Years.

The Director Shari’a in the Ministry, Mallam Muhammad Yamta Gulani, who handed over the suspects to the Police Area command office, said the arrest was possible after the joint team raided Gidan Ajayi Last Bus Stop, Maina Lodge, Zango, and Bakin Kasuwa all in Damaturu, the State Capital.

He explained that the mission of the Ministry is to ensure that violators of Shari’a Law are reoriented, cautioned, provided with guidance and cancelling that will change their immoral attitude and behavior which is unislamic and antisocial.

He emphasized that the operation is been carried out in all the local government areas of the State by Hisbah Corps and Shari’a committee.

He appealed to traditional and religious institutions, security agencies and members of the public to assist the Ministry in achieving it’s noble aim.

Investigations revealed that over 50 Cartons of Alcoholic Substances were recovered from the teenage boys who were arrested selling and consuming the hard drugs.
