World Contraceptive Day: Three Bauchi LGAs Benefit from Free FP Services

Ten healthcare facilities in three local government areas of Bauchi, Dass and Ganjuwa have offered free modern family planning services cutting across various methods for women of reproductive age.

The State Family Planning Coordinator at the Bauchi State Primary Health Care Board, Maryam Mohammed Dahiru stated this while interacting with journalists at the Specialist Hospital, Bauchi Family Planning Unit, shortly after inspecting services being offered in commemoration of this year’s World Contraceptive Day.

Maryam Dahiru said four health facilities were selected in Bauchi, three in Dass and three in Ganjuwa local government areas where services such as Intra Uterine Contraceptive Device, IUCD and Implants insertions, injectables, Pills as well as Barrier methods were offered without charges.

She explained that all out of pocket expenses were taken off due to donated family planning consumables and reagents received from the Implementing Partners.

Also speaking the Society for Family Health’s State Programme Officer, Demand Generation, Delivering Innovation for safe care (DISK) project, Ms Joyce Asanato assured the project’s readiness of continued collaboration with the state government towards offering family planning services to interested women and families.

The theme of this year’s World Contraceptive Day is “A Choice for All, Freedom to Plan, Power to Choose”.
