As part of the Federal Government’s efforts to promote self-reliance among women and strengthen food security, the Nigerian First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has launched the distribution of food items under the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) programme in Yobe State.

Represented at the event held in Damaturu, the State capital, by the wife of the Vice President, Nana Kashim Shettima, Oluremi Tinubu emphasised that RHI aims to complement the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President Ahmed Bola Tinubu administration.

She explained that the initiative seeks to support all Nigerians in achieving their goals, regardless of their circumstances or status.

Oluremi Tinubu, who is also Chairman of RHI, said the programme aligns with national and state agricultural policies aimed at reducing reliance on imported food.

The First Lady added that the initiative targets women in agriculture, providing them with training, start-up kits, and resources to grow their agro-businesses.

“This coming December, we plan to give 250 thousand naira to 200 senior citizens, and 200 persons with disability will also receive the same amount each in every state”, said Oluremi.

Wife of the Yobe State Governor and state coordinator of the RHI, Hajiya Hafsat Kollere Buni, commended Oluremi Tinubu for empowering women to be self-sufficient and safeguard the state’s food supply.
