Pupils of Baram Gada Primary School in Bauchi Local Government have received writing materials from the Journalists for Public Health and Development Initiative (J4PD) to encourage their learning pursuits.
Items distributed during the exercise included exercise books, pencils, colours, and sharpeners, aimed at motivating pupils to take their education seriously and improve classroom participation.
Executive Director of J4PD, Ms Elizabeth Kah, said the gesture formed part of activities marking the 2025 International Day of the Girl Child (IDGC) with the theme “The Girl I Am, the Change I Lead.”
Ms Kah emphasised that girls have equal rights as boys to access education, healthcare, and other opportunities, urging communities to support them in realising their full potential.
She noted that Baram Gada Primary School was selected because pupils in the city centre had previously benefited more from enlightenment and sensitisation activities commemorating the annual event.
Headmaster of the school, Mohammed Bello, appreciated J4PD for the support, calling on parents in the community to enrol and sustain their children’s attendance for better academic performance.
The distribution exercise featured goodwill messages from the Village Head of Baram, Chairmen of the School-Based Management Committee, and the Parents and Teachers’ Association.
