The flag off campaign was declared by the wife of the Executive Governor of Taraba state Mrs Agyin Agbu Kefas who said the state has joined other states in the Federation in this year’s measles rubella integrated vaccine campaign.
The first lady was represented by the state commissioner of Health Dr. Bodiya Boma who said Nigeria plans to vaccinate over one hundred million children and adolescents across the country.
She noted that her office is supportive as the ambassador of this important vaccine introduction activities and ensure that the state have achieved the proposed Coverage steps by the National primary health care Agency.
Mrs Kefas called on relevant stakeholders to support Government efforts in providing quality health care services across the state especially during this campaign.
In his address the executive secretary Taraba state primary health care development Agency Dr. Tukura Nuhu said this campaign involve all the critical stakeholders that are supposed to be involved in the campaign to step up their roles.
DR. Nuhu noted that the primary health care development agency and the ministry of health have put modalities in place to ensure children from zero to 14 years have been capture within ten days of the vaccine exercise in the Taraba state, adding that the vaccine exercise would start on Saturday 18th to 28 October 2025.
On his part the Director Taraba state National primary health care development Mr Peter Adamu said countries are doubting that they can not be able to successfully conduct measles rubella vaccine campaign in Nigeria, but the Nation had prove them wrong.
Mr. Adamu said this campaign is a very laudable campaign and which have Targeted hundred million children in across the Country.
In a goodwill message the chief of Ibbi Alhaji Salihu Danbawuro who represented the Northern council of traditional rulers and assured their full support of the campaign.
The traditional ruler said the traditional council have directed all parents to ensure that their children have been vaccinated during this measles rubella campaign across nooks and crannies of the state.
The flag off ceremony was witness by the Taraba state head of service Dr Ahmed Kara, representatives of World Health Organization( WHO) UNICEF, Rotary club, civil society organizations, religious and traditional rulers, the Media and primary school Children.
