The Yobe State Government has sponsored 149 civil servants for a capacity-building training at the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON), Lagos.
While speaking during a farewell ceremony held in Damaturu, the state’s Acting Head of Service, Abdullahi Musa Shehu, said participants will undergo training in Advanced Human Resource Management and Financial Resource Management courses.
He explained that the participants are drawn from various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
Shehu urged them to be good ambassadors of the state and demonstrate excellence during the training, noting the initiative is part of the administration’s commitment to improving civil service efficiency.
The Acting Head of Service further commended Governor Mai Mala Buni for his dedication to human capital development, highlighting millions of naira invested in similar training programmes within and outside Nigeria.
In a remark, the Focal Person on Training and Succession Plan, Ibrahim Bulama Yusuf, described the exercise as historic, with all 149 participants fully sponsored.
Yusuf pointed out that the training reflects the government’s belief that a well-trained workforce is key to effective governance and service delivery, demonstrating Governor Buni’s commitment to developing a competent civil service in Yobe State.
He added that the 32 others will attend a one-week Effective Communication course.
