Adamawa Government Approves Multi-Billion Naira Projects Across Key Sectors

Adamawa State Government has approved the award of a contract for the construction of a National Youth Service Corps NYSC permanent orientation camp at Malkohi in Yola South Local Government Area, at the sum of seven billion, seven hundred and eighty-one million, two hundred and fifty-six thousand, two hundred and thirty-four naira, five kobo.

The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, James Iliya, who briefed Government House correspondents shortly after the State Executive Council meeting chaired by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, explained that the contract, with a completion period of six months, was awarded to five contractors in twenty-one slots.

James Iliya said the project, which is significant to the development of both the state and the nation, would, upon completion, accommodate a large number of corps members deployed to Adamawa State.

The Council also approved the contract for the remodelling and renovation of Gulak Cottage Hospital at the sum of one billion, five hundred and forty-nine million, four hundred and ninety-four thousand, two hundred and eighty-eight naira, forty-six kobo, awarded to Berit Shoski Limited with a completion period of fifty-two weeks.

The Commissioner further stated that the Council approved the contract for the renovation and upgrading of Guyuk Cottage Hospital Phase Two at the sum of six hundred and ninety-three million, forty-four thousand, six hundred and ninety-seven naira, eighty kobo, as well as the upgrade of the Guyuk Water Supply Scheme, which had been neglected for several years.

The latter was awarded at the sum of four hundred and ninety-nine million, seven hundred thousand, five hundred and fifty naira to Samema Investment Limited and Hill Water Resources Nigeria Limited, with completion periods of fifty-two weeks and three months, respectively.

According to James Iliya, the state government deemed it necessary to upgrade the water scheme to ensure regular water supply to the Guyuk community so they too can enjoy the dividends of democracy.

Other approvals included the upward review of one hundred and nine million, six hundred and ten thousand, seven hundred and eighty-eight naira, twenty-seven kobo for the rehabilitation of electricity supply to Bahuni in Mubi North Local Government Area, awarded to Messrs S&S Business Bureau Limited with a completion period of three months.

The Council also approved the award of a contract for the procurement of drugs for the State Medicine Distribution Centre in Kofare at the total sum of four hundred and ninety-nine million, three hundred and ninety-five thousand, three hundred and fifty naira, awarded to Malina Pharmaceuticals Limited.
