Dozens of youth associations have called on the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, to contest for the governorship of Kano State under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.
The coalition, comprising about 90 different youth groups across the State and the region, made the call during a grand endorsement rally held at the Meena Event Center in Kano.
The event, which drew hundreds of supporters, was organized to celebrate the achievements of Senator Jibrin and to appeal to him to bring his leadership experience and developmental strides to bear as the next governor of the state.
Speaking at the event, Professor Shehu Abdullahi Maaji, Chairman of the Northwest Development Commission, described Senator Jibrin as a visionary leader who has consistently demonstrated commitment to the progress and welfare of his people.
He said the number of projects facilitated by the lawmaker to Kano and other northern states cannot be overemphasized, noting that such efforts deserve to be rewarded through wider political support.
Representing the Deputy Senate President at the gathering, his Chief of Staff, Professor Mohammad Ibn Abdallah, listed several projects attracted by Senator Jibrin to Kano State, including the establishment of the Federal University of Education in Kano, the Federal University of Technology in Kabo, and the solar power project at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital.
He added that the senator had also facilitated the execution of Renewed Hope housing projects in Kano.
“People in Kano, within and outside APC, are clamouring for Barau to contest for governorship under the APC.
“Let me tell you that words can not be enough to enumerate the numerous projects brought to Kano and Northern Nigeria by Barau.
“This is the reason why the people, in their thousands decide to come out to show their support and appeal for him to contest,” he said.
Abdallah added that the calls from the public reflect their confidence in Senator Jibrin’s capacity and leadership qualities, assuring that his principal would not hesitate to heed the call of his people when the time comes.
He added that the groups promised to come out en mass to voted for senator Barau if he clinch the gubernatorial ticket under the APC in 2027.
