FG, Yobe State Collaborate to Tackle Malnutrition with Nutrition 774 Initiative

Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has reaffirmed the state’s commitment to improving nutrition and public health through the Nutrition 774 Initiative, aligning with the Federal Government’s objectives.

The Governor gave the assurance during a courtesy visit by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Health, Uju Rochas-Anwukah, at the Government House in Damaturu.

Governor Buni emphasised the importance of multi-sectoral collaboration and community participation in achieving the goals of the Nutrition 774 Initiative.

He highlighted the state’s agricultural empowerment programme, which has boosted food security, nutrition, and economic growth.

The Governor expressed optimism that the initiative would significantly improve nutrition and public health in Yobe State and urged stakeholders to work together to achieve its goals.

Earlier, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Health, Uju Rochas-Anwukah, explained that the Nutrition 774 Initiative is a government-led, community-driven programme that seeks to address the root causes of malnutrition and promote sustainable solutions.

She noted that the Programme is anchored on three principles: political will at the subnational level, multi-sectoral collaboration, and accountability and financing.

Anwukah pointed out that the Programme has the potential to make a significant impact in reducing malnutrition and improving public health in Yobe State, with the commitment of the state government and the support of development partners.
