Taraba State Government expresses readiness to support investors

Taraba State Governor, Dr. Kefas Agbu has reiterated his administration’s commitment towards creating an enabling environment for investors looking to establish businesses in the state.

The Governor gave the assurance when a delegation from the National Sugar Development Council paid him a courtesy visit in Jalingo.

Governor Kefas emphasized that Taraba State is accommodating in terms of investment, particularly in areas of agricultural and industrial sectors, assuring investors of his administration’s support for business success.

He disclosed that Taraba has vast, unoccupied lands suitable for agricultural ventures and called on investors to take advantage of the opportunities to invest.

The Governor identified sugar as a priority commodity in the state’s agricultural agenda, pointing out that local government areas such as Kurmi, Lau, and Ibi are suitable for large-scale sugar production.

Earlier in his remarks, Executive Secretary of the National Sugar Development Council, Kamal Bakrin listed the council’s mission to include: developing policies and strategies for the sugar sector, building capacity through training, and supporting the development of improved sugar varieties.

Bakrin added that the Council also assists investors in securing finance and land for sugar projects, emphasizing the global significance of sugar as a socio-economic commodity that employs over 100 million people across 20 countries.

Also speaking, Wilking Lam of Lee Group applauded the Council’s decision to support the creation of a multibillion-naira large-scale sugar project in the state.
