Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has presented a budget proposal of N515.58 billion for the 2026 fiscal year to the State House of Assembly.
The budget, tagged “Budget of Economic Growth and Infrastructural Transformation,” aims to complete ongoing projects and initiate new ones to accelerate the state’s development.
Governor Buni highlighted key areas of focus, including infrastructure, agriculture, education, health, and rural electrification.
The budget breakdown includes: Recurrent Expenditure N192.13 billion (37.3%), Capital Expenditure: N323.46 billion (62.7%)
Governor Buni emphasized his administration’s commitment to improving healthcare, citing plans to build a new General Hospital in Potiskum and establish a Renal Dialysis Centre in Gashua.
He also highlighted investments in agriculture, education, and infrastructure, including solar street lighting and rural electrification.
The Speaker of the Yobe House of Assembly, Chiroma Mashio, praised the budget presentation as a constitutional exercise reflecting the state’s commitment to accountability and prudent financial management.
