Gombe Secures Licence For Lincoln University Malaysia

Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has received the official licence for the establishment of Lincoln University Malaysia, Kumo Campus marking a significant step toward making Gombe a regional centre for world-class higher education.

The Federal Government, through the National Universities Commission NUC, issued the licence, which was earlier presented to the Deputy Governor in Abuja alongside officials of the university.

Governor Yahaya thanked the Federal Government and NUC for the approval, describing it as a fulfilment of the MoU signed with Lincoln University.

He noted that despite attempts to undermine the project, his administration remained committed to its success.

Founder of Lincoln University Malaysia, Professor Amiya Bhaumik, praised the Governor’s leadership and revealed that the new campus will begin with programmes in health sciences, management, and technology, focusing on research, entrepreneurship, renewable energy, agriculture, and food security.

In recognition of his contributions to education, the university has conferred an Honorary Doctorate Degree on Governor Inuwa Yahaya, to be formally awarded at the university’s headquarters.

Deputy Governor Dr. Manassah Jatau highlighted that the licence is the first under Nigeria’s Transnational Education TNE, framework, reflecting federal confidence in Gombe State.

The Lamido of Akko, Alhaji Umar Muhammad Atiku, commended the Governor for realizing a longstanding dream of the Akko community and pledged their support for the take-off of the institution.
