2025 WCD: Bauchi Children Urge Full Implementation of Child Protection Law

Children in Bauchi State have called on parents, governments, and well meaning citizens to support the implementation of the Child Protection Law to protect them against all forms of abuse and guarantee their safety, security, health, education and nutrition.

They made the call at an event to mark the World Children’s Day 2025, with the theme “My Day, My Rights” , organised by the Bauchi State Government in collaboration with the United Nations Children’s Fund UNICEF, Bauchi Field Office.

The children said actualising their aspirations of becoming teachers, doctors, lawyers, engineers, technologists, and leaders was dependent on safe schools and homes.

Some of them Harmalah Ustaz Ibrahim and Pererat Dung Nashut from Government Girls College Bauchi, emphasised the need for all stakeholders to ensure provision of quality healthcare, describing it as a fundamental rights of every child.

On their part, Aishatu Abubakar Makama and Ummu Salma Muhammad Auwal from Government Day Secondary School, Kofar Wambai, highlighted the importance of education to unlocking children’s potentials, urging government to invest more in the sector to enable them achieve their dreams.

Contributing, some students of the State Technical College, made presentation on nutrition and the need to reintroduce school feeding programme across the country.

In a remark, the Chief of UNICEF, Bauchi Field Office, Dr Nuzhat Rafique, represented by Mr Oluseyi Olusunde called on the federal and state governments to commit to ending child poverty through evidence-based policies that create meaningful opportunities for children and their families.

Also Speaking, the State Commissioner of Education, Dr Lawal Mohammed assured the school children of government resolve to sustain the safe environment and children-centred policies to aid learning and thriving.

The Chairman, Bauchi Local Government Area, Alhaji Mahmood Babama’aji charged the children to vigorously pursue their dreams devoid of fear or disruption, noting that with determination, they can achieve anything in life.
