Media Organisations urged to establish libraries.

The Executive Secretary Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council NERDC, Professor Salisu Shehu has called on Media Organisations in the country to establish libraries to improve research and revive reading culture among the people.

Professor Salisu Shehu made the call at the twenty second Anniversary celebration of Radio Nigeria Globe FM Bauchi.

Salisu Shehu who is an Educational Psychologist, said reading among citizens is at its lowest ebb, hence the need for the media organisations to take a leading role towards reversing the trend.

To ensure the realisation of the objective, the educationist donated copies of the “National Reading Framework 2023” to improve reading culture.

While commending Radio Nigeria Globe FM for its consistency and contribution to societal reorientation, the NERDC Executive Secretary called on media organisations to celebrate veterans in the broadcast industry to encourage hardwork, dedication and resilience among working journalists.

Also Speaking, the Deputy Speaker Plateau State House of Assembly Isa Ajiji Madaki who commended Radio Nigeria for its role especially in the area of peace building, promised continued support to the station to enable it serve the society better.

Among those that graced the ocassion are Senator Shehu Buba Umar, Senator Abdul Ahmed Ningi, Deputy Speaker Plateau State House of Assembly Isa Ajiji, Former Governor Ahmed Adamu Mu’azu among others.

Highlights of the celebration include award presentation to distinguished personalities and staff as well as Cultural display by Asha Ruwa Dancers from Plateau State’s Afizere/Jarawa tribes.
