EFCC Reaffirms Commitment In The Fight Against Corruption In Nigeria

Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC says it will continue to play its role in the fight against corruption in order to achieve a corruption-free country.

Executive Chairman of the Commission, Mr. Ola Olukoyede stated this on the occasion of this year International Anti-Corruption Day, held in Kaduna.

Represented by the Acting Zonal Commander of the commission, Kaduna Zonal Command ACEI Aisha Abubakar, the Executive Chairman said it is a special occasion to review their works with stakeholders and to consolidating the gains of the fight against economic and financial crimes and other forms of corrupt practices in the country.

“All over the world, corruption is a threat to the growth and development of individuals and nations. No one is immune to the contagion of corruption which is why nations are united in finding solutions to this common ailment”.he said.

Mr. Ola Olukoyede assured that the commission would continue to remains committed to working with the corruption prevention template recommended by UNCAC for the desired objective.

He said the commission would also prioritize collaboration with local and foreign law enforcement agencies, professionalism and would also adherence strictly to rule of law as the absolute minimum in all of its activities.

According to him, only through professionalism and adherence to the rule of law that the commission would be able to contribute to economic growth by restoring investors’ confidence in our economy.

“Our focus makes it imperative for us to create conducive environments for job creation, opening of investment space across the country and improvement on our international image” he emphasised.

Mr. Ola Olukoyede explained that increased professionalism means that there will be zero tolerance for all forms of arbitrariness.

” I want every EFCC operative to be more diligent and resourceful on our assigned tasks. My leadership will punish infractions traceable to unethical practices. We will ensure that the right things are done at all times” he said.

The Acting Zonal Commander of the Commission, Kaduna Zonal Command ACEI Aisha Abubakar this Saturday morning led a peaceful walk from the EFCC office at Wurno road to NDA, Unguwar Sarki, Unguwar Kanawa, then back to office.

Those that participated include, ICPC, Police, NDLEA, FRSC, KASTLEA, Corp members, Some Agencies, ministries and departments in Kaduna State, CSOs, media among others.

It was a colorful walk with solidarity and motivational songs with EFCC T-shirt and P-cap which ended with speeches by the representatives of each stakeholder and light refreshment.
