The Federal Government has approved forty-seven billion naira for the completion of the Jakara–Wuju-Wuju road and sewage project in Kano metropolis.
The Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Alhaji Yusuf Abdullahi Ata, disclosed this during the flag-off ceremony in Kano.
Ata said the Federal Government took over the project at the request of the Kano State Government, adding that it cuts across Gwale, Kano Municipal, Dala and Fagge local government areas and would boost economic activities when completed.
He explained that while the state government had already completed eight hundred and fifty metres of the project, the Federal Government would handle the remaining six point seven kilometres, with the state also responsible for compensating owners of affected properties.
The minister commended former Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso for initiating the project in 2013 and thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the funding, describing the project as a major intervention that demonstrates the Federal Government’s commitment to Kano State.
