Desist from aligning with lawless and selfish individuals – Kano CP Warn Residents

The Kano State Police Commissioner has advised residents of the state to guard their wards against being used by lawless and selfish individuals.

This is contained in a media statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer,SP Abdullahi Kiyawa in Kano.

He said between 0500-0630hours of this Wednesday there was fire outbreak that affected three offices of the Secretariat of Gwale Local Government Council.

“at about 1135hrs some faceless intruders made forceful entry into the Secretariat Complex and turned the place rowdy and begin pelting stones on everyone.

” The situation is adequately under control as investigation into the immediate and remote causes of the incidences is ongoing.

CP Mohammad Hussein Gumel advised residents to remain calm and be rest assured that the Police is on top of the situation and is fully prepared to deal with any person found constituting threat to national security.

” Members of the public are advised to keep ignoring all pressure groups that are making attempts to ignite confrontation between residents and security agencies in the State.

The statement further explained that timeframe for suspension of the Chairman of Gwale Local Government Area by the Kano State House of Assembly has elapsed today, Wednesday, 13th December, 2023 and there is subsisting Court order reinforcing that the Chairman resumes work accordingly.

It said that the entire area was now calm while joint security operatives were providing the desired security.

The Commissioner of Police,Mr Hussaini Gumel, while appreciating the confidence extended by the residents to the command, however,called for more support to sustain the peace in the state.

He also urged the residents to keep reporting any suspicious movement of person(s) or item(s) with the aim of having a crime free Society.

Meanwhile the Chairman of Gwale Local Government Area,Khalid Ishaq Diso, said that after reinstatement by the Court, he sought accurate Police protection to the Secretariat.

” My reinstatement has nothing to do with the burning down of about 17 offices and some vehicles.

Khalid Ishaq said the local government council is working along with security agencies with a view to find out the root cause of the fire incidence.
