About 1,500 persons recently displaced by flooding in Potiskum and Nangere Local Government Areas of Yobe State have received food and non-food relief materials from Hazras Charity Foundation, in collaboration with Muslim Aid Partners.
The distribution saw 1,000 flood-affected households receive food baskets containing 5kg of rice and beans, two litres of cooking oil, and salt.
In addition, 500 beneficiaries were supported with non-food items including mattresses, 3kg gas cylinders, buckets, blankets, mosquito nets, rechargeable lanterns, and other essential materials.
Speaking during the exercise, Abdul Latif Abdulkadir advised beneficiaries to make proper use of the items and cautioned them against selling the relief materials in the market.
He explained that the gesture was part of the MAA Crisis Relief Flood Response Initiative, designed to provide immediate life-saving assistance to communities affected by flooding, while also supporting long-term recovery and building resilience against future disasters.
The distribution exercise took place at Yobe Flour and Feeds Mill Limited and drew beneficiaries from flood-affected communities in Potiskum and Nangere Local Government Areas following the recent rainy season.
Some of the beneficiaries, including Abdullahi Adamu and Hadiza Abubakar, expressed gratitude to Hazras Charity Foundation and its partners for the timely intervention and support.
