Al-muhibba foundation trains women on ginger farming in Bauchi State

The Almuhiba foundation in Bauchi State has organised a one day capacity building training on ginger farming for fifty women to enhance their economic status.

Speaking to the participants at the training, a lecturer with the crop production department faculty of Agriculture Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Bauchi,Dr. Rashida Abdulmumini Bala said the move was to assist the women folk with the required skills to adopt local farming techniques in their garden.

Dr Rashida Bala who noted that ginger production was only practiced in Kaduna State northern Nigeria in the past, stressed the need for Women as the vulnerable group to follow the trend for them to be self reliant.

She described ginger as an all year round crop produced with high export value and less capital intensive which improve the economy if properly managed with organic manure.

Some of the beneficiaries interviewed, Hauwa Abdullahi Adamu,Hassan Ubandi Gamawa and Asma’u Abdullahi Abubakar commended the non Governmental Organization for the opportunity given them,promising to use the knowledge for the purpose it was meant for.
