NGO Launches Empowerment Programme in Bauchi State

A non-Governmental Organization Al-muhibbah foundation has launched an empowerment programme of locally made shoes for some categories of people aimed at improving their economic status.

Presenting the items to seventy five beneficiaries at the Al-muhibbah office in Bauchi, the First Lady, Hajiya Aisha Mohammed, who is the founder of the NGO said the empowerment programme was aimed at making the beneficiaries to becoming employers of labour rather than of job seekers.

Hajiya A’isha Bala Mohammed who urged the beneficiaries to judiciously utilise the Items provided them, advised parents to engage their children into petty businesses to reduce overdependence on Government while enhancing their socio-economic status.

The first Lady explained that the foundation started its activities in Abuja seventeen years back with clearing of grave yards, provision of fabric materials for burial and construction of bathrooms to underserved communities.

Earlier, the Coordinator Al-muhibbah Foundation Hajiya Zara Baba listed the categories of beneficiaries to include orphans, Almajirai, social media handlers, host communities and caregivers.
