Federal Government To Roll Out Malaria Vaccination in Bauchi, Ondo States

The Federal Government will next month commenced vaccination against Malaria in Bauchi and Ondo States as part of efforts to prevent people, especially women and children from the devastating disease.

Executive Chairman of Bauchi State Primary Health Care Board, Dr Rilwanu Mohammed disclosed this at a news conference, held at Polio Emergency Operation Centre in Bauchi.

Dr Rilwanu Mohammed said already two states have been captured in the first phase of the vaccination exercise, while Bauchi and Ondo states were selected for the second phase.

He explained that availability of the vaccine was a big challenge to tha federal government, hence the decision for its gradual roll out.

Meanwhile, the executive Chairman of the State Primary Health Care Board, Dr Rilwanu Mohammed has disclosed the state government’s plans to conduct test for food vendors across the state with a view to guard residents against typhoid and other diseases.

Dr Mohammed who said the exercise would cut across all categories of food vendors including restaurants and roadsides, noted that testing them would enable the state to ascertain their eligibility or otherwise.
