In a significant move to improve healthcare, Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has announced plans to construct a specialist hospital dedicated to women and children in the state.
The Governor made the announcement on Friday during his ongoing tour of the state’s twenty-one local government areas, with the latest stop in Yola North.
Governor Fintiri emphasized that his administration will not accept preventable deaths of women and children in the 21st century due to an inadequate healthcare system. The planned specialist hospital is a direct response to this commitment.
He reassured residents that his administration remains dedicated to providing more infrastructural development, stating that his legacies, policies, and programmes are clearly visible across Adamawa State.
“We will continue to serve the people with dedication, fairness, and sincerity,” Governor Fintiri added.
Officials Commend Governor, Appeal for Trader Support
In their remarks, the State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Yayaji Mijinyawa, and the Chairman of Yola North Local Government Area, Alhaji Jibril Ibrahim Jimeta, commended the Governor for his transformative efforts across the state.
While appreciating the government’s interventions in health, education, infrastructure, security, and empowerment programmes, they appealed for the Governor to extend his administration’s generosity to traders within the state so they too can feel the impact of good governance.
Commissioning of New Secretariat
As part of the event, Governor Fintiri commissioned the newly built Yola North Local Government Area Secretariat, a project recently completed by his administration.
The event featured goodwill messages from representatives of elders, stakeholders, youth, and women groups.
The highpoint of the occasion was a display of traditional dances by various tribes residing in Jimeta, showcasing the state’s cultural diversity.
