Consultation, Good Listening Ear, Key To Good Governance Delivery – Governor Bala.

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state says consultation and good listening ear are the watchwords in ensuring inclusive leadership and delivering good governance, particularly in a democratic setting.

Bala Mohammed stated this at a public lecture organised by the state government as part of activities to commemorate Bauchi State’s 50th anniversary, held at International Conference Centre Bauchi.

He noted that consultation, stakeholding and a good listening ear were key in bringing about the needed development in every aspect of governance, insisting that good governance was beyond political shenanigans.

Bala Mohammed cited a personal experience of good listening ear that all urban-road networks were achieved under his government were as a result of the fruitful advice given to him by one individual from an opposition party.

The Governor noted that good governance was a huge task that cannot be delivered by one person, emphasising the importance of bringing intellectual people around you to be able to scale through.

The Guest Speaker at the event and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Alhaji Yayale Ahmed, said Bauchi State has evolved and needs continuity from successive administrations to be able to get to the promised land.

The event featured a panel discussion with former civilian Governors and military administrators of the state, serving as panelists and moderated by a Bauchi-born Professor of Linguistics and Nigerian Languages, Andrew Haruna.

It Also had in attendance Governor of Oyo state, Seyi Makinde, representative of Gombe state Governor, members of the Diplomatic Corps, Senators and other notable leaders.
