The Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof.Ishaq Oloyede, has commended Governor Babagana Zulum og Borno State for constructing a state-of-the-art zonal office for the Board and a Computer-Based Test (CBT) centre in Maiduguri.
Speaking during the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Zonal Office and CBT Centre, situated along the Maiduguri-Dikwa Road the JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, said the zonal office will cover Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe States. He added that the capacity of the computers in the CBT Centre will enable those wishing to register for their JAMB in Borno to complete their registration within two days.
The JAMB Registrar further explained that the facilities, when completed, would feature a Professional Registration Centre (PRC), where students can register and proceed to the examination hall when they are ready to write their exams.
He described the project as one of the best multi-centre CBT facilities in the country, stressing that the centre will house 275 computers in one section and another 275 computers in the other section, meaning that at any given time, 500 students can write exams simultaneously. This facility, he noted, will enable JAMB to clear approximately 2,000 students within two days.
Prof. Oloyede expressed gratitude for the Governor’s efforts in education, stating that it is the kind of leadership the country needs.
In his remarks before the flag-off, Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, said his administration decided to contribute its quota to education in the state, adding that now that JAMB is going digital, Borno must catch up.
He further promised that a CBT Centre will be established in each of the three senatorial zones of the state. The zonal office is estimated to cost N667 million, while the CBT Centre will cost N330 million. Governor Zulum assured that the work will be delivered within a record time.
