Zulum Appeals for More Troops, High-Tech Military Equipment After Attacks in Gwoza, Konduga

Governor Babagana Zulum, of Borno State has made an urgent appeal for the deployment of more troops and high-tech military equipment to ensure the safety of residents across the state.

The Governor made the appeal shortly after visiting survivors of the Ngoshe attack who are currently taking refuge in Pulka town, Gwoza Local Government Area.

During the visit, Governor Zulum sympathized with the affected families and survivors, assuring them that efforts are underway to rescue those abducted, restore security, and provide immediate humanitarian support.

Governor Zulum specifically called on the Nigerian Army to intensify operations to clear insurgents from the Mandara Hills, which he described as a major security threat to the region. While the exact number of casualties from the Ngoshe attack is yet to be confirmed due to ongoing assessments, the Governor acknowledged the significant loss of life and property.

In response to the displacement, the state government has commenced the distribution of relief materials and established community cooking points to provide immediate food for the survivors in Pulka.

In a related development, Governor Zulum also visited Konduga town to inspect several houses burned during an attack by Boko Haram insurgents on Thursday. He reassured the residents of the government’s commitment to rebuilding destroyed structures and enhancing security presence in the area.
