The College of Administration, Management and Technology (CAMTECH), Potiskum, has organised its sixth Cultural Display to promote unity, peaceful coexistence and social interaction among students and youths.
The event, organised by the Students’ Union Government (SUG) in collaboration with the National Union of Yobe State Students (NUYOS), took place on Saturday, 18th July, 2026, at the College Sports Ground in Potiskum, Yobe State.
Speaking at the programme, participants stressed that cultural differences should not divide people but should instead be embraced as a source of collective strength capable of promoting peace, understanding and development.
Students representing different ethnic groups, including the Karai-Karai, Hausa, Bole, Ngamo, Ngizim, Fulani and Kanuri, thrilled the audience with colourful traditional attire, traditional music and dance performances, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of their various communities.
The event attracted government representatives, traditional rulers, security personnel, traditional title holders and thousands of spectators from across Yobe State.
Highlights of the occasion included cultural performances and the presentation of awards to Alhaji Umaru Abdumalik CEO AUM Multi link, and Babagana Modu Bature Goneri GM YOROTA in recognition of their contributions to youth and community development.
In his welcome address, the Dean of Student Affairs, Alhaji Mohammed Dahiru Zayi recalled on the time when many young people were reluctant to pursue formal education. He noted that the situation has changed significantly, with increasing numbers of youths now embracing education as a pathway to personal and societal development.
Also speaking, the Rector of CAMTECH Potiskum, Alhaji Ibrahim Bomoi Zarma, who declared programme open, said every community has a unique cultural identity that should be preserved and celebrated. He thanked all the invited guests for attending the students’ programme and encouraged continued support for initiatives that promote unity through cultural diversity.
Some students and youths who attended the event commended the college management and the Students’ Union Government for organising the programme, describing it as a platform that strengthens cultural understanding, promotes peaceful coexistence and fosters unity among the people of Yobe State.
