The Bauchi State Agency for Mass Education BASAME has trained about 400 Married Women in Literacy and Vocational Skills under the Hajiya Aisha Bala Mohammed Alternative High School for Girls.
The programme covers basic literacy, post literacy, as well as continuing and Vocational Education.
Speaking at the Graduation ceremony of the trainees, the Wife of Bauchi State Governor Hajiya Aisha Bala Mohammed challenged married women to acquire both western and religious education in order to train their children and make a positive impact in the society.
According to her, the image of an educated mother differs from that of an illiterate even in the eyes of the society, hence the need for them to fight illiteracy towards having a blissful marriage and family.
The Executive Secretary, State Agency for Mass Education, BASAME, Alhaji Nasiru Hamma said the graduands numbering 395 have undergone nine months basic literacy, two years post literacy, two years continuing education and vocational skills depending on the type of trade they chose.
In a remark, the Commissioner of Education Alhaji Abdulkadir Ibrahim appreciated the Wife of the Governor and facilitators for their effort in sponsoring and impacting positive knowledge on the trainees.
The ceremony featured an award presentation to exceptional students by the First Lady and financial assistance to all the graduands, the school and teachers.
