The Minister of State for Regional Development, Uba Maigari Ahmadu has commended North East Development Commission for its interventions of the ongoing critical project across the North East Geo Political zone.
The Minister of State for Regional Development stated this during his two days working visit to the Borno State to inspect some of the projects undertook by the North East Development Commission.
The two days official visit by the Minister were some of the oversight functions of the Ministry over the the projects handled by the North East Development Commission as a supervising Ministry.
The first port of the Minister’s call during the visit was the 250 bed capacity hostel with a laundry and a Kitchen which is under construction at Mohammed Lawan College of Agric Maiduguri where the Minister was taken round by the Provost of the Collage, Professor Abba Makinta and the Supervising Engineer.
The Minister commended the pace at which the work is going on and assured all the necessary support from the Ministry of Regional Development.
The Minister and his entourage were also at Moro Moro bridge that was collapse during the September 2024 Maiduguri flood which is under construction as part of the North East Development Commission’s interventions.
Supervising Engineer of the Project, Engineer Kori Shettima briefed the Visitors on the level of the work, its proposed duration of the completion as well as it’s relevance not only to the Borno State but to the Country at large as the bridge connects Gomboru Market which is international Market with the rest of the Maiduguri.
Uba Maigari Ahmadu and his entourage were also at Fo’ori to inspect another bridge submerged during the same September 2024 flood of Maiduguri which was at the advanced stage of completion and commended the North East Development Commission for its timely interventions.
Managing Director North East Development Commission, Mohammed Goni Alkali says the bridges were part of over forty (40) bridges under construction across the six (6) States of the zone which some were already completed and the Projects are expected to complement the stability and overall development across the North East zone.
The Minister assured that the Ministry will deploy all the required resources to ensure the that all the projects handled by the North East Development Commission across the six States of the zone are completed for the betterment of the immediate beneficiaries of the Projects.
The Minister added that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has Borno State and the North East Geo Political zone at heart hence the visit and the utmost priority of the present administration while assuring further improved interventions.
