BAHA Pledged To Accelerate Passage of Framework of Action Bill To Arrest OOSC Indices

Bauchi State House of Assembly commits to accelerate the passage of the state Framework of Action Bill aimed at reducing the number of Out of School Children facing the state.

The Chairman, House Committee on Education, Dr Nasiru Ahmed Ala made the commitment at a two-day Regional Stakeholders Engagement Meeting on addressing the problem of Out-of-School Children, ensuring Retention, Transition and Completion Models in Bauchi, Gombe and Adamawa states.

Dr Nasiru Ala assured the State House of Assembly’s commitment to expedite action towards quick passage of the bill to enable the executive arm of government take the necessary measures to push the state to another level.

He expressed optimism that the Bala Mohammed’s administration was passionate about the education sector, assuring that as soon as the legislature passed the bill, it would be assented to by the State Governor.

The Law Maker pledged to work assiduously with his colleagues towards ensuring accelerated passage of the bill.

Dr Ala hinted that in view of the fundamental functions of the legislature which include, Law Making, Oversight and Representative Capacity, the house would also identify critical stakeholders to chat possible ways of addressing the problem.

Our Correspondent reports that the meeting which held in Gombe was organized by the UNICEF Bauchi Field Office, aimed to engage education stakeholders from the three states on the need to expedite efforts towards reducing the number of Out of Out Of School children and increase retention, transition, and completion of adolescents in secondary schools.
