The North East Development Commission (NEDC) has distributed food items to 1,900 beneficiaries, including people living with disabilities, across the 17 local government areas of Yobe state.
The gesture aims to alleviate the suffering of vulnerable communities, particularly those affected by insurgency and displacement.
Handing over the food items to the Yobe State Government, the state Coordinator of the NEDC, Prof. Ali Ibrahim Abbas, emphasised the importance of supporting affected persons, especially farming communities.
The commissioner for humanitarian and disaster management, Dr Mairo Amshi, who received the items on behalf of the state government, appreciated the gesture and pledged to distribute the items directly to the identified beneficiaries.
The Chairman of the “People Living With Disabilities” PLWs Commission, Alhaji Bura Gabai, expressed satisfaction with the gesture, which comes ahead of Ramadan fasting.
This initiative demonstrates NEDC’s commitment to developing and empowering communities affected by insurgency and poverty in the North-Eastern states of Nigeria.
