Bauchi State Primary Health Care Board, with support from Care International Nigeria, has activated a Nutrition Corner at the Miri Primary Health Care facility in Bauchi Local Government Area.
A Nutrition Corner is a dedicated space within health facilities where mothers and caregivers receive guidance on properly nourishing their children using locally sourced food nutrients.
Speaking at the eactivation exercise, the Executive Chairman of the Primary Health Care Board, Dr Rilwanu Mohammed, emphasised the crucial role of Nutrition Corners in preventing malnutrition among children.

Dr Mohammed classified malnutrition into two categories: undernutrition, which leads to underweight, and overnutrition, which results in obesity, noting that both of which, have serious health consequences.
He urged women to take advantage of the initiative by attending antenatal and postnatal care sessions and ensuring their children receive immunisations.
In a remark, the State Project Manager of the CaSCADE programme, being implemented by Care International Nigeria, Isaac Ishaya Audu, stated that the initiative aims to bridge the nutrition education gap and address the alarming rates of malnutrition in the state.
He encouraged women to utilise the newly established Nutrition Corner to gain essential nutrition knowledge, including early initiation of breastfeeding, exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months, and complementary feeding.
