Kano State House of Assembly has sworn in two lawmakers Alhaji Muhammad Bello Butu Butu representing Rimin Gadon/Tofa and Alhaji Zakariyya Ishaq representing Kura/Garun Malam.

The swearing-in was a sequel to deliberations during an executive session on Monday.

Earlier, the appeal court had ordered a rerun election in some constituencies across the country, including those represented by the two lawmakers, where they were affirmed as duly elected by INEC.

Shortly after the swearing-in, the majority leader Alhaji Lawan Hussaini Dala, moved a motion for the nomination of Muhammad Bello Butu Butu as the deputy speaker.

The lawmakers unanimously adopted the motion where the member representing Rimin Gado Tofa Muhammad Bello Butu Butu was sworn in as the deputy speaker for the second time.

Radio Nigeria reports that, on 13th June 2023, Butu Butu was sworn in alongside other principal officers as the 10th assembly deputy speaker.

The house adjourned it’s sitting to Tuesday 20th February 2024 in a motion moved by the majority leader, Lawan Hussaini Dala.
