NDLEA Decorates Emir of Fika As “Royal Patron of War Against Drug Abuse”

The National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Yobe State Command has decorated HRH the Emir of Fika and Chairman Yobe State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alh. Dr. Muhammad Abali Ibn Muhammadu Idrisa as Royal Patron of War Against Drug Abuse.

Decorating the traditional ruler, the State Commander NDLEA, Abdulazeez Ogunboye said the Agency, appreciates the support and cooperation, extended by the monarch in the discharge of its duties in the state.

“A baby program tagged War Against Drug Abuse is expected to identify leaders in our areas of operations to be our Ambassadors.” the commander added.

He outlined some of the recent achievements of the Agency in the state, which included the arrest of about 323 suspects, some were counselled and discharged, while others were jailed.

“we have so far arrested 323 suspects in 2023, out of which 256 are users of drugs, even though we don’t have Rehabilitation Center, we counselled them and returned them back to their relatives, 67 were charged to Count successfully conviction 35 sentenced to jail for drug offences while 32 cases still trying and prosecuting in Court”.

He explained that the war against the sale and consumption of illicit drug, demands additional support from all members of the society.

The Commander noted that the NDLEA Boss, General Buba Marya (rtd) has during an award of recognition reward 5 officers from Yobe Command due to their hard work and dedication.

Ogunboye added that out of the new trained graduates, about 80 new officers have been deployed to Yobe State offices in all the 17 Local Government Areas of the state.

He seek the Emir’s support to help secure offices for the new officers.

“We seek your royal support to secure us offices across the LGAs in Yobe. There’s also an issue of State Drugs Law Control Committee, as an organization that have something to do with drugs to ensure effective dtug control, we seek your royal support to ensure that this committee is Inaugurated”.

Responding, the Emir of Fika and Chairman Yobe State Council of Traditional Rulers Dr. Muhammad Abali Ibn Muhammadu Idrisa applaud the NDLEA for recognizing the roles of Traditional Rulers in the fight against drug abuse in the Country, adding that the menace of drug abuse can not be over emphasized.

According to him, the effects of the act, has penetrated into many families which demands collective and holistic approach to curb the menace.

The Royal Father ordered the Chief Imam of Fika Emirate Council Potiskum to offer a special prayer against the abuse of drugs in Yobe and Nigeria at large.
