Attah Sisters Helping Hands (ASHH) Foundation has reaffirmed its commitment to advocate and promote women’s and girls’ issues to drive the necessary change in their economic and social development.
The Executive Director of ASHH Foundation, Ms Comfort Attah, stated this at a two-day Capacity Building Workshop in commemoration of International Women’s Day 2025, themed “Accelerate Action.”
Ms Attah described this year’s theme as timely, highlighting the role every individual must play in accelerating action to end discrimination against women’s rights and achieve the desired change in gender equity.
The Executive Director, who emphasised the crucial contributions of women to political, economic, and social development, stressed that their rights must not be undermined.
She commended Women for Women International for its support in advancing the cause of women’s and girls’ rights.
In a presentation, the Bauchi State Coordinator of the National Human Rights Commission, Ms Yachit Dala, emphasised issues surrounding women’s rights, dignity, and discrimination.
She called on communities to take the lead in ensuring protection and justice for survivors of Gender Based Violence (GBV).
Another resource person, Dr Isaac Crown, emphasised the need for all citizens to prioritise gender equality, equity, justice, inclusiveness and responsiveness in their engagements.
Our correspondent reports that the workshop provided a platform for stakeholders to connect, exchange ideas, and explore opportunities for collaboration in tackling GBV.
