Bauchi State Health Contributory Management Agency (BASHCMA) has enrolled eight thousand vulnerable persons into the scheme’s informal sector to improve access to quality healthcare at the grassroots.
The Executive Secretary of the Agency, Alhaji Inuwa Muhammad Duguri, disclosed this during the official registration exercise at Yelwan Duguri District in Alkaleri Local Government Area.
He explained that the beneficiaries include elderly persons, children under five, pregnant women, persons living with disabilities and their children, as well as individuals with sickle cell conditions.
Speaking at the event, Alhaji Inuwa Duguri emphasised that the initiative aligns with the state government’s effort to achieve Universal Health Coverage (UHC) which seeks to ensuring that no one is left behind in accessing healthcare.
According to him, a significant number of private and public healthcare facilities have been engaged and accredited to provide services to the enrollees.
Alhaji Inuwa Duguri noted that the enrolment process would accelerate residents’ inclusion in quality healthcare services, adding that UHC could only be achieved when everyone in society has access to medical care.
In his remarks, the Chairman of Alkaleri Local Government, Garba Bajama, represented by his deputy, Alhaji Abbas Ibrahim, commended Governor Bala Mohammed for the initiative and urged beneficiaries to take full advantage of the opportunity to access quality healthcare.
