FRAD Harps on Citizens Safety in The Area of Explosive Device Identification.

People in the North east have been advised to be vigilant and report any explosive-like device to trained personnel.

The advice was given by the executive Director Future Resilience and Development (FRAD) foundation Mr Ibrahim Ishaku Balami at an event to mark the 2025 International Mine Action Awareness Day in maiduguri, with the theme “safe future, starts here”.

Mr Balami said creating Awareness will help ensure safety of the citizens. Knowing that after armed conflicts active explosives are left behind.

He stated that recently after the maiduguri flood, some explosives were deposited under the lagos bridge around gwange area and other places, hence the need for increased awareness.

Balami added that with funding from NHF and help from other partners FRAD was able to reach over 70,000 people in monguno,Bama and Gwoza, and another 17,000 in Jere, konduga,magumeri in Borno and also Bade and fune in yobe state with awareness campaign on explosive devices.

Associate program officer United Nation’s Mine Action services (UNMASS) Angela Galu stressed the need for people to identify, stay away and report any unidentified object to the nearest police unit.

Highpoint of the event was the display for identification of different types of explosive devices by the commandant EOD police training school James Ta’asah.
