CBM and TCDI Launch Inclusive Education Project in Yobe State.

A non-governmental organisation, Christian Blinden Mission (cbm), in partnership with Taimako Community Development Initiatives (TCDI), has launched a promoting inclusive Education and vocational training and handed over Notes on WASH facilities to benefiting communities in Yobe State.

Speaking at the event held in Damaturu, the Country Programme Manager of the CBM, Michael Alaje Idah, said the organisation requires bringing together various stakeholders to understand what the project is about and the roles and responsibilities they need to bring on board to support the successful and effective implementation of the project.

Mr Michael Alaje Idah explained that the Children of people with disabilities and Children with disabilities also lack access to quality education. Because of that, they seem to only attend special schools.

He pointed out that other persons with disabilities need vocational skills, livelihood security and economic empowerment.

The Country Programme Manager added that this is the reason that CBM wants to break the circle and come together to address the needs of persons with disabilities and promote their inclusion in education and vocational skills acquisition.

The Executive Director of the Taimako Community Development Initiatives (TCDI), Gambo Garba Muhammad, said the project is intended to strengthen the capacity of the participants so that they can implement the significant parts of the project to achieve its mandate.

On his part, the Commissioner of the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Professor Abba Idris, represented by the Director of Schools Services Alh Bukar M. Modu, has commended the development partners for the intention.

He, therefore, states that the project will complement the efforts of Governor Mai Mala Buni’s administration for giving special consideration to the people living with needs.

The Commissioner further appealed to the development partners to also consider the special school that is in Damagum, the headquarters of Fune local government in their project.

Speaking on behalf of the Chairmen of the benefiting local government areas of Nangere, Nguru, and Bade, the Chairman of Nangere Local Government Council, Samaila Musa, thanked CBM and TCDI for selecting their Council Areas to benefit the project.

He assured their total support towards ensuring the success of the project implementation.
