Jigawa Approves The Use Of Hijab For Female Security Operatives

Jigawa State Executive Council has approved the use of Hijab for female security operatives across the state.

The State Commissioner for Information, youth, sports and culture Alhaji Sagir Musa Ahmed stated this shortly after the council meeting held at government house Dutse.

According to him, the council has issued a directive to the three security guard companies operating in the state.

He explained that, these companies are to allow female security operatives among the 9,969 young people recruited to wear Hijabs while on duty, as a matter of religious and cultural accommodation.

Alhaji Sagir Musa Ahmed said, this decision followed a report presented by the council committee on Schools, hospital, and court security, and reaffirms the administration’s support for respectful workplace policies that uphold modesty, inclusion and dignity.

He said, the state executive council has also approved the inauguration of the state creativity and innovation week (JISCIW) starting from 2025.

He noted that, this initiative reflects the administration’s commitment to promoting talent development among the youth and aims to foster a vibrant spirit of innovation, creativity, and enterprise across the state.

Sagir said, JISCIW will serve as a platform to identify, showcase, and support creative talents, especially in fields such as technology, design, entrepreneurship, and the arts.

He further explained that, the council approved the release of over 516 Million naira for the purchase of 184 return tickets and 1 one-way ticket for 185 jigawa state students currently studying various medical and applied medical courses at Near East University, Cyprus, in preparation for the 2024/2025 academic session.

The commissioner added that, the intervention underscores the government’s continued commitment to supporting the education and welfare of the students abroad, especially in critical fields such as medicine and healthcare.
