A House of Representatives member representing Rano/Bunkure/Kibiya federal constituency, Kabiru Alhassan Rirum, has urged for a total halt on hunters’ movements from the North to the South, citing the current insecurity in the country.
Rurum made this call during a condolence visit to the family of hunters killed and burnt to ashes in Uromi, Edo State,at their country home Torankawa Village ,Bunkure local government area of Kano State .
The lawmaker’s plea comes after the tragic incident in Uromi, where hunters from the North were killed.
He emphasized that carrying dangerous weapons and moving around with them from one end of the country to another would send a bad signal and potentially lead to chaos.
Rurum shared his recent experience where over 30 hunters from his hometown, Rano, were apprehended in Ondo State.
He said he had to personally intervene and provide evidence that they were not criminals before they were released.
He noted that if the people in Ondo had reacted senselessly like those in Uromi, the outcome would have been different.
During his visit, Rirum donated N5 million to the families of the deceased hunters and promised to build an Islamiyya Primary and Secondary School in the area for the orphans.
The State Chairman of the factional NNPP with Fruits Logo, Senator Masaud Jibrin El-doguwa, also condemned the killings and pledged that work on the promised school would commence soon.
Senator El-doguwa expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and emphasized that the incident should serve as a lesson to prevent similar heinous crimes in the future.
Doguwa assured that the school would be built to give hope to the children of the deceased hunters.
