Newly admitted students into the Federal Polytechnic Bauchi’s Degree Programmes in affiliation with the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, (ATBU) Bauchi, have been warned against engaging in examination malpractice, drug abuse, cultism, and other social vices.
The Vice Chancellor of ATBU, Professor Ibrahim Hassan Garba who sounded the warning at the matriculation of students for the 2024/2025 academic session, held at the Federal Polytechnic Bauchi, called on the students not engage in any act that would tarnish their image and the reputation of the institutions.

Professor Garba, represented by the Chairman, Central Screening Committee, Professor Mansur Malumfashi, said character and learning should be the students’ watchwords, noting that ATBU Bauchi has zero tolerance to all kinds of anti-social behaviours such as cultism, examination malpractice, sexual harassment, drug abuse, indecent dressing, vandalism and truancy.
He said the institution’s duty was to educate the students and mould their character as the end result was to making them responsible citizens, warning that anyone found to be deviant would be dismissed.
The Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Bauchi, Alhaji Sani Usman encouraged the matriculants to utilise their time and be of good conduct throughout their studies to make their parents and sponsors as well as the institutions proud.
The Rector, represented by the Director of Academic Planning and Quality Assurance, Malam Usman Yusuf Dutse called on the new students to adhere strictly to all rules and regulations guiding their stay in the instruction.
The over 100 matriculants were administered Oath of Allegiance by the University’s Registrar, Alhaji Kabiru Garba Aminu, represented by the Senior Deputy Registrar, Admin Council, Hajiya Hadiza Tanimu.
